Mornington
Tranquillity
and warm hospitality are the essence of Mornington, home to the
O'Hara's since 1858. Set in an unexplored corner of Westmeath, with
its charming landscape of rolling hills, ancient forests and sparkling
lakes, Mornington is truly part of the real hidden Ireland, away
from the tourist hordes, yet just 60 miles from Dublin.
The original manor was built in 1710 and extended in 1896. It is
now a gracious family home with a reputation for delicious meals
prepared in the fine tradition of the Irish Country House. Anne
is a member of Euro-toques, the international fraternity of serious
chefs.
Excellent golf, fishing and equestrian facilities can be arranged.
The neolithic sites at Newgrange and Loughcrew and the early Christian
sites at Fore and Clonmacnoise are all within easy reach, as are
the gardens and castles of Ballinlough, Tullynally and Butterstream.
