Martinstown House
Originally part of the extensive estates
of the Dukes of Leinster, Martinstown was completed by the Burrowes
family between 1832-40 in the charming "Strawberry Hill"
gothic style as a cottage orné. Many interesting people have
stayed her. And todays visitors enjoy old-fashioned hospitality
but with modern day comforts. The house is beautifully decorated
and has an informal elegance with a most welcoming atmosphere.
Outside there are wonderful trees, a well-maintained walled garden
with a hard tennis court, an old icehouse, cattle, sheep and a donkey
and proper free-range hens.
Nearby racecourses include the Curragh, Naas and Punchestown. The
National Stud and Japanese Gardens are 4 miles away. For golfers
there are several challenging course within 30 minutes, Dublin is
32 miles and the Wicklow Mountains are reached well within the hour,
as is Dublin Airport.
