Kilmokea
Kilmokea,
a Georgian house built in 1794, has been lovingly restored and stands
in seven acres of heritage gardens on the banks of the River Barrow.
The bedrooms in this former rectory have been lavishly decorated;
one has a four-poster and another a Bateau Lit. All overlook the
gardens, which include a formal walled garden, full of rare and
tender species from all over the world, and a woodland garden, with
many walkways and exciting displays of exotic plants.
Private trout fishing and aromatherapy treatments are available
for guests, as is a whole range of home-grown produce.
Twelve golf courses are within easy reach and horse-riding, deep-sea
fishing and water sports can all be arranged. The nearest ports
and airports are Rosslare Harbour (45 minutes), Waterford Airport
(25 minutes) and Cork Airport (110 minutes). Dublin is two hours
away.
