Clifden House
Clifden is a listed, early Georgian house
hiding on the wooded shore of Lake Inchiquin, the southern boundary
of the remarkable Burren region. Abandoned for many years, the house
is slowly being coaxed into compromise with the twentieth century.
The resulting mixture of gentle ruin and epicurean comfort somehow
sidesteps time.
Bernadette is passionate about cooking and her organic fruits,
vegetables and meats come from the garden and the nearby family
farm. The River Fergus flows through the stableyard and, along with
a host of lakes, provides trout and pike fishing. Shooting, riding,
hunting, golf, walking and the great wealth of natural history of
the Burren are all on the doorstep. Shannon Airport is just 20 miles
away.
