Assolas House
Assolas
is a charming 17th century house, set among ancient trees, with
lawns sweeping down to the river. The Bourke family has lived here
for generations and has welcomed guests to their house for more
than thirty years.
The gardens - winner of the coveted national Garden Award - produce
fruit, vegetables and herbs, which are the foundation of Hazel's
famous regional food, while the atmosphere is enhanced by a well-deserved
reputation for hospitality and fine food, complimented by an excellent
wine list.
Assolas is within an hour's drive of all the Southwest's premier
attractions, such as Blarney Castle, Dingle, the Ring of Kerry and
the cities of Cork and Kinsale. Visitors can enjoy lawn tennis,
boating, croquet, salmon or trout fishing (and coarse fishing).
There are numerous golf courses nearby (golf at Kanturk is complimentary)
while, for hill walkers, the region abounds with walks of varying
grades and distances.
Private groups are welcome at any time of the year - by prior arrangement.
