Spital Hill

Ten minutes from the A1, this quiet, peaceful house with lovely furnishings and sparkling lamps is convenient for a stopover and for exploring the Dales and Moors. Set in 1½ acres of garden surrounded by parkland, the house is Georgian with Victorian additions. Bedrooms are comfortable, well furnished (5' double 3' single beds) with large warm bathrooms; lots of extras including bathrobes.

But the real reason for a visit is the warmth of welcome and the delightful meals; everything from bread onward is home baked always using available produce from the garden. A sensible wine list complements the superb food. A no smoking house.

Access by a private road marked by two short white posts on the west side of the A19 Thirsk to York road 1 mile south of the A19 (A170)/A168 intersection.
