The Old Rectory
From The Old Rectory there are spectacular views of the countryside,
wonderful walks on the doorstep and abundant wildlife. Castles,
abbeys and rivers abound. The unspoilt village of Barningham, two
miles from the A66 trans-Pennine route, is a perfect halfway house
for travellers to and from Scotland.
One bedroom, with en suite bathroom, is in the separate Coach
House and is reached by old stone steps leading to the beautiful
high-ceilinged room which overlooks the courtyard.
James is renowned in the thoroughbred racehorse world; Angie is
a trained Cordon Bleu cook, dabbles in watercolours, gives salmon
fly casting lessons and is a keen gardener. No smoking in bedrooms.
Turn south off the A66 at signs for Greta Bridge and Barningham,
10 miles west of Scotch Corner/A1. Immediately turn left again to
Barningham. Two miles later enter the village between dry stone
walls. The Old Rectory is the second entrance left after the Barningham
village sign.
