West Farm

Only 20 paces from the sea, West Farm, built in 1600 and Grade II listed, is one of the oldest houses in what is reputedly England’s most ancient fishing port. A high wall and unpretentious facade belie the lovely ‘secret’ garden and luxurious home that lie within. Gail’s food and hospitality are of local renown and meals are served ‘al fresco’ in the beautiful enclosed courtyard, weather permitting. Please bring your own wine.

Appledore, with its long history of fishing, shipbuilding and smuggling is still unspoilt, and a wonderful place to explore. The north Devon coast is an area of outstanding natural beauty, a must for walkers and nature lovers. Dartmoor and Exmoor are within easy reach and the Royal North Devon Golf Club is one mile away.

From M5, junction 27 take A361 to Barnstaple, then A39 to Bideford. After crossing new Torridge Bridge turn right at big roundabout and follow signs to Appledore. After St. Mary’s Church on left, immediately right into Irsha Street. West Farm is opposite The Royal George pub.
