Boltongate Old Rectory
On first acquaintance, this beautifully situated house appears to
be a typical Victorian Rectory, with spacious rooms and large windows
providing lots of light and wonderful views of the Lakeland fells
and mountains. But slowly the house reveals its secrets a
15th century study where guests can snuggle up to a roaring fire
and a wonderfully romantic 17th century dining room lit by lamplight,
where Anthony and Kathleens superb and beautifully presented
cooking is further enhanced by a comprehensive and interesting wine
list.
Situated in the quieter Northern Lakes, approximately twenty minutes
from the M6, this is the perfect centre from which to explore Buttermere,
Derwent and Ullswater, and the majestic peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra.
The Peacocks enjoy music and Kathleen is a talented flower arranger.
A no smoking house.
From south: M6 exit 41. B5305 to Wigton, at A595, left. After
5 miles left for Boltongate. Left at T-junction. In village follow
for Ireby, down hill, driveway on left. From north: A595 from Carlisle
16 miles. Left for Boltongate, then as from south.
