Mackeanstone House

The Graham family have lived in this 17th century farmhouse since 1947. It faces south to the Gargunnock hills, with the first mountains of the Highlands rising behind. A welcoming, informal atmosphere, combined with a touch of luxury in a peaceful rural setting, makes this an ideal base for touring the Stirling area, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs (‘Rob Roy country’). It is within an hour’s drive of Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Colin and Fiona have both worked in the wine and spirit trade; Colin is a qualified tri-lingual Scottish Tourist Guide and plays the bagpipes, while Fiona is an enthusiastic, imaginative cook. Everything at Mackeanston is home-made, from Aga-baked bread to preserves made from fruit and vegetables from the extensive walled garden. A no smoking house.

Exit M9 Stirling-Perth motorway at junction 10; follow A84 to Crianlarich for 5 miles. Before Doune, turn left on to B826 to Thornhill. After 2 miles take farm road on left, then private drive on right, just before farmyard.
