Abbey Mains

Abbey Mains is situated in the beautiful farmland of East Lothian. The large stone farmhouse which has superb views of the Lammermuir Hills has been owned by the Playfair family for several generations. A substantial proportion of the fruit and vegetables are grown in the productive kitchen garden specially for the house.

Abbey Mains is only 35 minutes from central Edinburgh and 2 miles from the historic town of Haddington. Within East Lothian there are a number of excellent golf courses. The beaches are only a 10 minute drive away and it is a short boat trip out to the Bass Rock. Other attractions in the area include a bird sanctuary, the Museum of Flight and the Glenkinchie Distillery.

David is a busy arable farmer growing potatoes, wheat and barley but hopes to have time again for his hobby of carriage driving. Joyce enjoys looking after family and guests as well as the garden. A no smoking house.

The house is easily accessible from the A1 – 2 miles due east of the county town of Haddington and 500 yards up a tree-lined avenue.
