The Citadel

The beauty and tranquillity of little known Shropshire can be fully appreciated at this very unusual house. It stands in a spectacular position overlooking one of the few Grade 1 landscapes in the country. This is Hawkstone Park, becoming famous for its follies and magical walks.

Sylvia and her husband Beverley, enjoy sharing their much loved home, which has wonderful views from every window, and hope guests will have time to stroll round the large garden, whose paths meander around and over a sandstone outcrop. Round every bend is something to catch the eye, a Victorian grotto, a shady glade full of acers and a potager. Pause awhile in the thatched summerhouse, to look across the Shropshire plain to the Welsh hills in the distance.

Situated between Hodnet and Weston. On the A49, 12 miles north of Shrewsbury, 8 miles south of Whitchurch, follow signs to Weston/Hawkstone Park. House on the right ¼ mile after taking the Hodnet road out of the village.
