The Wilderness
Guests
can lose themselves in the charm of The Wilderness - an imposing
limestone country house, with short gabled wings, mullioned windows
with hoodmoulds (as described in Pevsner's 'The Buildings of England')
and surrounded by enchanting grounds.
From the stone-flagged entrance hall and inviting pale blue drawing
room, to the bright dining room with high ceiling and huge windows -
rooms are beautifully decorated in quintessential country house
style. The elegant Rose bedroom and the fresh, floral Yellow bedroom
with huge French armoire, both have super king size beds and private
bathrooms. Guests can wander along pergola walkways with scented
rose filled borders either side, to discover a croquet lawn, a
peaceful orchard and an ancient folly. The garden is a haven for
birds with woodpeckers pottering and swooping throughout the day.
